ABOUT THE ARTIST

My work is influenced by various artists throughout history as well as modern day painters.  The simple yet brilliant paintings of Edward Hopper and the L.A. style figures of Caia Koopman allow me to explore and bring together ideas from two completely different styles of painting and create something new with them.  For the scenic landscape aspects of my paintings I am influenced by Elizabeth Mowry, Mark Bryan, and Mark Ryden.  For references of color theory, skin tones, and abstract backgrounds I look to the work of Jose Parla, Chet Zar, Daniel Greene, and Herakut.

My current series is focusing on relationships and how they grow with people as we get older.  I am exemplifying this belief by showing the relationship between my mother and myself as the years go on.  With each new series I start comes a new theme and with every new series and theme comes various challenges.  I like to think that challenging myself can be difficult at times but will pay off in the end by making me a better painter.  with this theme that I am currently using, I hope to accomplish an even better relationship with my mother and I, as well as embrace every difficult task that comes up along the way.
